PointsBet Appoints Daniel Lucas as Group Chief Technology Officer

PointsBet Holdings Limited has announced the appointment of Daniel Lucas as its new Group Chief Technology Officer (CTO), effective from September 1, 2024. Lucas will be replacing the current Group CTO, Jerry Bowskill, who will step down after the completion of the sale of the US Business to Fanatics Betting and Gaming.

Daniel Lucas is currently serving as the Global Director of Trading Technology at Flutter Entertainment Plc. In this role, he leads the global trading technology operation and service across the Flutter Group, which includes brands such as Fanduel, Sportsbet, Paddypower, Betfair, Pokerstars, and Skybet. Lucas will be relocating from the UK to Melbourne to assume his new position.

Prior to joining Flutter, Lucas held senior positions at Sportsbet in Melbourne, where he served as the Head of Data Solutions and Head of Trading Technology. Before that, he worked in the investment banking sector in London. Lucas holds a Bachelor of Science (First Class Honours) and a Master of Business Systems from Monash University.

Sam Swanell, the CEO of the PointsBet Group, expressed his satisfaction with Lucas’s appointment, stating that his expertise in complex platforms, algorithmic trading, risk management, and advanced analytics will be valuable for PointsBet’s operations in Australia and Canada. Swanell also acknowledged Jerry Bowskill’s contributions to PointsBet and wished him well in his future endeavors.

Daniel Lucas expressed his excitement about joining PointsBet, emphasizing the company’s focus on technology and product development. He believes that there are exciting growth opportunities ahead for PointsBet.
