When will the Outlanders update be released for Dota 2?

Snapfire and Void Spirit Heroes Coming to Dota 2 Soon

It has been over a month since the reveal of Snapfire and Void Spirit at The International 2019. These two new heroes will be joining Dota 2’s roster along with a large update called The Outlanders. Although the release date has not been announced yet, signs point to it being in November. However, there is a chance it could arrive before October ends.

Timing with Major and Minor Tournaments

The MDL Chengdu Major and Dota Summit 11 Minor are scheduled for November, with the Minor starting on Nov. 7. If Valve were to release The Outlanders update around the same time as these events, players might be hesitant to try the new heroes because they could be used in the tournament. This could lead to balancing issues, as seen with the release of Mars.

Benefits of an October Release

Releasing the entire update in October would be ideal for both casual and competitive players. By doing so, Valve can ensure that teams have enough time to practice for the Major and Minor events, while also allowing the developer to make necessary balance changes based on the qualifiers. It also presents an opportunity to bring players back into the game and increase viewership for the tournaments.

October or November Release

While October is a possibility, November is more likely for the release of The Outlanders update. This would align with the release dates of the previous three Spirit heroes and provide Valve with more time to prepare the new heroes for the second set of qualifiers. Regardless, the update will bring a wealth of new content, including Snapfire and Void Spirit, to Dota 2 before December.
