What team will MidOne join next?

Dota 2 Star MidOne Benched by Team Secret, Takes Break from Competitive Scene

Yeik “MidOne” Zheng, a veteran player in the Dota 2 esports scene, has been benched by Team Secret and will be taking an extended break from competitive play. Despite being one of the best players in the world, MidOne’s performance at The International 2019 and the lack of open rosters may limit his options for joining other teams.

MidOne is known for his versatility and skill in Dota 2. He has shown his ability to create opportunities for his team as well as excel as a carry in late-game situations. MidOne has an impressive hero pool, including unconventional picks like Broodmother, Visage, and Meepo. He has also played with some of the top captains in the game and was the first Southeast Asian player to reach a MMR of 10,000. So why has his reputation taken a hit after TI9?

While MidOne had a strong start at the tournament with Team Secret, his performance became inconsistent as the days went on. Despite securing a fourth-place finish, his play on the main stage showed signs of weakness and discomfort. It was clear that he wasn’t performing at his usual top level.

After TI9, MidOne expressed his desire to leave Team Secret and play closer to home. However, with the new Dota Pro Circuit rules and the stable rosters in Southeast Asia, it may be challenging for him to find a new team. Many major organizations in the region have already solidified their rosters, leaving MidOne with limited options.

Potential Landing Spots for MidOne

In Southeast Asia, two top teams, Fnatic and TNC Predator, are unlikely to replace their mid players for MidOne, even if he were available. While MidOne may be a superior player to the current mid players on these teams, the stability and success of their lineups make it unlikely for them to take a risk on a major change.

Another possible landing spot for MidOne is Mineski. The organization has experienced significant roster changes and could benefit from a fresh start. However, the legendary status and connections of their current captain, Mushi, make it uncertain whether MidOne would fit into the team.

T1 is another option for MidOne. Former teammate Forev, who helped bring MidOne to Team Secret, is now part of T1. However, their previous disagreements and the lack of progress in finalizing T1’s roster may hinder this potential partnership.

Ultimately, signing with T1 would bring credibility to both MidOne and the organization. T1 could offer world-class facilities and potentially base the team in Malaysia to accommodate MidOne’s needs. It is not uncommon for Dota 2 organizations to switch regions based on their roster.

For now, MidOne will be taking a break from competitive play as the Dota Pro Circuit season begins. It is unclear when and where he will make his return to the scene.
