Virtus Pro, one of the top Dota 2 teams in the world, didn’t start MDL Macau 2019 as well as expected. They had a 2-5 start and were in danger of having the worst record overall. They just barely avoided that fate by having the tiebreaker over EHOME. However, this only meant they started the playoffs in the lower bracket.
In the playoffs, VP faced Invictus Gaming in their first match. The loser of this match would be eliminated from the event. It was a close contest, with VP coming out on top with a 29-26 K/D score. It was a comeback win for VP, as they had to fight back from a significant early disadvantage.
Next, VP faced Vici Gaming, the team with the second-best record in the event. They split the first two games, but VP dominated in the third game to secure the win.
Finally, VP played against Newbee, and it was a similar scenario. They won the first game, got blown out in the second game, and then came back strong in the third game to secure the victory.
Now, VP is set to face Evil Geniuses in the lower bracket finals.
