Virtus Pro Struggles in MDL Macau 2019
Virtus Pro had a disappointing start to their tournament at MDL Macau 2019. They only won one game on the first day and needed to bounce back on the second day to salvage their round robin stage.
Their first opponent was the depleted EHOME roster, who had little chance against a struggling VP. EHOME ended up in last place after losing to both VP and Royal Never Give Up.
However, VP’s win against EHOME didn’t ignite the fire they needed. They went on to lose back-to-back games against Newbee and a surging Invictus Gaming. With a 2-5 record, they find themselves in the lower bracket for the playoffs.
Evil Geniuses Slips Down the Standings
It wasn’t just the bottom teams that struggled. Evil Geniuses lost two out of three matches and fell to third place by the end of the day. Both losses came from teams that now sit above them: Vici Gaming and Team Liquid.
Vici Gaming currently holds the second seed due to their victory over EG. Both teams have a 4-3 record, but Vici has the tiebreaker. On the other hand, Team Liquid moved up to the top spot in the standings after a successful day.
Heading into the Playoffs
As it stands, Team Liquid, Vici Gaming, EG, and Royal will compete in the upper bracket, while the remaining teams face elimination in the lower bracket.
