Virtus Pro puts Dota 2 roster on hold, opting out of ESL One Germany

Virtus Pro’s Dota 2 Lineup Moves to Inactive Roster, Skips ESL One Germany

Virtus Pro has announced that its entire main Dota 2 lineup will be moving to the inactive roster and will not be participating in the ESL One Germany event. This decision follows recent leaks about the ongoing CIS roster shuffle.

It was somewhat expected that this move would happen, but it will still be strange to see Alexey “Solo” Berezin sitting on the sidelines.

VP’s Struggles and Decision to Pause

VP has made several changes since parting ways with their 2018 and 2019 roster that finished ninth at The International 2019. The organization has had difficulty finding the right players to complement Solo and Vladimir “No[o]ne” Minenko, and it seems that VP’s management is now ready to move on.

In a statement, VP said, “Our first Dota 2 roster will skip ESL One Germany 2020 and will go inactive for some time. The team has not been performing as expected in recent months. The management, the players, and you, our fans, can agree on that. Now is the time to put things on pause and make important decisions about the roster’s future.”

VP’s Disappointing Performance and Potential Solution

The final blow for VP’s management appears to have been their seventh-place finish at the Omega League. This was their lowest placement since the start of the online season due to COVID-19.

Since winning ESL One Los Angeles Online in April, the team has struggled to achieve consistent success at larger tournaments. On the other hand, their secondary roster, VP.Prodigy, has shown promise since its formation earlier this year.

VP’s Future and Roster Shuffle Rumors

According to rumors from the leaked roster shuffle, VP.P could become the main roster for the organization, resolving the issue of abandoning the main team and reducing the financial burden of large contracts.

The rumor also suggested that Roman “RAMZES666” Kushnarev may return to replace stand-in Igor “iLTW” Filatov on VP’s main roster, potentially revitalizing the team’s chances of winning titles. However, fans will have to wait and see what decisions the organization makes regarding the roster and whether Solo’s squad will remain intact.
