Vici Gaming emerges as top team in Group B with narrow victories at the MDL Chengdu Major

Vici Gaming Secures Upper Bracket Spot at MDL Chengdu Major

Vici Gaming had a successful first day at the MDL Chengdu Major, defeating both Team Spirit and Alliance to secure a spot in the tournament’s upper bracket. The Chinese team joins TNC Predator, Team Liquid, and Invictus Gaming in the upper bracket.

In their match against Team Spirit, Vici Gaming picked Night Stalker, Gyrocopter, and Earthshaker as their core heroes. Zeng “Ori” Jiaoyang’s Gyrocopter performed exceptionally well throughout the game, allowing Zhou “Yang” Haiyang to play at a steady pace. Team Spirit couldn’t keep up with Vici Gaming’s strong performance.

However, Team Spirit fought back in game two, utilizing Chaos Knight and Tiny as their core heroes. Despite a close fight, Team Spirit managed to even up the series by avoiding Vici Gaming’s late-game Gyrocopter.

In game three, Vici Gaming ran Morphling and Sand King, while Team Spirit opted for an unconventional lineup with a position four Tiny. Unfortunately for Team Spirit, their strategy didn’t find success, and Vici Gaming secured a clean 2-1 victory.

Vici Gaming then faced off against Alliance in their next match. In game one, Alliance’s Adrian “Fata” Trinks controlled the map effectively around Gyrocopter, securing a 1-0 lead for his team.

However, Vici Gaming made a comeback in game two by picking Naga Siren along with Night Stalker and Rubick. They dominated the early game, hindering Alliance’s team fight potential.

With a 2-1 victory, Vici Gaming claimed first place in Group B and advanced to the upper bracket playoffs.
