Vici Gaming Dominates Evil Geniuses at MDL Chengdu Major
Vici Gaming continues their winning streak at the MDL Chengdu Major with a strong performance against Evil Geniuses. Despite some moments of brilliance from EG, Vici never felt pressured and secured a spot in the upper bracket finals.
Game one was a complete slaughter, with Vici Gaming dominating EG and securing a 34-11 kill advantage. Artour “Arteezy” Babaev’s Alchemist never had a chance to get going due to Vici’s strong support shutdown.
Although EG tried to bounce back in game two with a clever draft, Vici maintained a slight lead. However, a costly overextension by EG gave Vici the opportunity to team wipe them. Despite EG’s impressive comeback, Vici ultimately lost the game due to a backline jump by Arteezy and a push for the throne.
In the decisive third match, EG relied heavily on Arteezy’s Juggernaut but failed to hold their late game draft together. Vici’s Night Stalker dominated the match, and EG’s post-40 push plans were snuffed out by Vici’s dominance.
Vici Gaming’s 2-1 victory sets them up to face TNC Predator in the next match. Meanwhile, EG will await the winner of Alliance and Team Liquid in the lower bracket.
The upper bracket finals will take place on November 23 at 1:30am CT.
