Valve’s Underwhelming TI12 Compendium Allegedly Aims to ‘Prove a Point’ to Dota 2 Pros, Gorgc Claims

Valve’s Different Approach for The International Compendium upsets Dota 2 Community

Valve, in a surprising move, released a Compendium instead of its usual battle pass for The International, causing disappointment among pro players and Dota 2 personalities. Janne “Gorgc” Stefanovski believes that this decision was made to send a message to the Dota 2 pro players.

Changes in Compendium’s Focus

According to Gorgc, Valve’s decision to shift its focus from premium cosmetics like Immortal Treasures, Arcanas, and Personas has resulted in a more pro-player-centric Compendium this year. However, players have not reacted well to these changes.

Drop in Prize Pool and Content

Gorgc pointed out that the lack of content in this year’s Compendium will result in a prize pool that is significantly lower than previous years. Unlike previous Compendiums that offered various skins and cosmetics, this year’s rewards are solely related to professional teams, which has disappointed the casual player base.

Valve’s Statement and Future Updates

In response to the criticism, Valve stated that they wanted to move away from the annual battle pass system to a more player-centric approach. They plan to release Arcanas and player creations after The International concludes.
