Valve’s Fix for Hacking Bug Forces Innocent Players to Abandon Matches

Dota 2 Update Causes Issues for Innocent Players

Valve recently released an update for Dota 2 to address players using command spam scripts to crash servers. However, innocent players have also been affected, as their heroes are unable to respond with no solution in sight.

Command spam scripts have become a popular hack in the Dota community. While players have been able to counter typical automatic combo or instant hex scripts, the command spam script can cause the game to crash. If enough players disconnect, the match result is invalidated, preventing the scripter from receiving a loss.

New update makes spam-clicking dangerous; may cause the game to become unresponsive to all input from DotA2

In their attempt to combat this issue, Valve’s update has inadvertently caused problems for their own player base. Clicking quickly can cause a hero to stop responding to any input, leading to frustration for innocent players who are simply trying to play the game. It’s unclear whether this issue is a result of the protection system or an unintended consequence of the code.

Unfortunately, there is no known workaround for this unresponsiveness. Disconnecting or restarting the game does not resolve the issue, leaving players without any temporary relief. This bug significantly impacts the gaming experience for innocent players.

Given the developers’ track record, many players expect Valve to swiftly address and resolve this problem with another fix.
