Valve Surprises Dota 2 Community with Unexpected Patch 7.33b Prior to Berlin Major

Valve Releases Patch 7.33b Right Before Dota Pro Circuit’s Berlin Major

Valve has surprised the Dota 2 community yet again by releasing Patch 7.33b just hours before the start of the Dota Pro Circuit’s Berlin Major on April 25. This update focuses on stat adjustments based on data and feedback from the past week, toning down heroes that were dominating the meta and making changes to the expanded map.

Nerfs and Adjustments for Dominating Heroes

Players who have been closely observing the game will not be surprised to see heroes like Riki, Phantom Lancer, Silencer, and Void Spirit receiving nerfs in this update. Riki, in particular, has been hit hard with nerfs to Smoke Screen, Blink Strike, and Cloak and Dagger.

Other top usage heroes like Dark Seer, Alchemist, Chen, and Legion Commander have also been slightly adjusted to balance their power level. Pangolier and Bristleback, despite their popularity, have received mostly positive changes.

Buffs for Clinkz and Broodmother

Clinkz, who benefited from the previous 7.33 update, receives further buffs in this smaller update that may improve the hero’s performance. Broodmother also benefits from positive changes.

Medusa’s Power Boost

Medusa received significant buffs with increased damage for Split Shot, improved gain from Mystic Snake, and an update to Mana Shield that now applies to the hero’s illusions.

Aside from hero changes, the patch includes updates to the map, additional features for cross-map travel, adjustments to Neutral Creeps and items, and bug fixes that have been released in the past few days.

A Controversial Release Timing

While this patch is manageable in size, it has raised concerns due to its release less than a week after the previous update. The fact that many pro players are resting for the Major adds to the uncertainty. Additionally, some DPC Division II matches have had to use the new patch right after its release.

Despite the controversy, many fans are excited about the potential impact of this patch on the upcoming Dota 2 Major matches starting on April 26.
