Valve Introduces Dota Plus: A Monthly Subscription Offering Game Perks

Valve Launches Dota Plus Subscription Service with Exclusive Perks

Valve, the developer and publisher of Dota 2, has released a new patch that introduces Dota Plus, a monthly subscription service that enhances the gaming experience.

Dota Plus is described as an “evolution” of the Battle Pass, which was a virtual compendium and cosmetic item bundle released during each season of the Dota 2 Majors and the International tournaments. This new subscription includes exclusive perks like individual hero levels, advanced statistics and analytical tools similar to Dotabuff, and an assortment of shiny cosmetics.

The Hero Progression system rewards players with experience points and levels for each of the 115 heroes in the game. Completing games with a specific hero grants experience, and leveling up unlocks Reward Shards and additional Hero Chat Wheel responses. Reward Shards can be exchanged for Relics that showcase a player’s battleground achievements on their profile.

Dota Plus also allows players to use Reward Shards to purchase exclusive cosmetic items for each hero, as well as legacy item sets for popular picks.

The challenges from previous Battle Passes are also carried over to Dota Plus, offering players a set of tasks to complete in each game. These tasks range from simple objectives like dealing a set amount of damage to complex challenges that require teamwork. Completing these tasks rewards players with Reward Shards.

One of the standout features of Dota Plus is the Plus Assistant, a comprehensive stats and analysis system that integrates with in-game hero guides. The Plus Assistant tracks various numbers and statistics for each hero and can analyze team compositions, lane assignments, and the overall complexion of each game in real time. Based on this analysis, the system suggests item builds and hero ability progression, taking popular builds into account.

The Battle Pass has also made a comeback as part of Dota Plus, offering additional perks like the Weekly Battle Cup and the free Seasonal Terrain. Winners of the Weekly Battle Cup receive 20,000 Reward Shards as a reward.

Subscriptions for Dota Plus start at $3.99 per month, with discounted rates available for longer packages. A six-month subscription costs around $20, while a one-year subscription is approximately $40. Players can subscribe to Dota Plus directly through the game client.
