Valve-backed Dota Summit 13 Online Revealed: Three Regional Divisions Scheduled for October 21

Dota Summit 13 Online: A Big Online Event with Valve Support

Beyond the Summit is gearing up for Dota Summit 13, which is set to be one of the biggest online events of the year. Valve has shown their support for the tournament, making it the first of many Valve-supported events running through the end of the year.

Three Divisions and a Promising Lineup

Dota Summit 13 Online will feature three full divisions: Europe and CIS, North and South America, and Southeast Asia. The tournament will take place from October 21 to November 8. Although the teams participating in the competition haven’t been confirmed yet, the details will be announced over the next week.

It’s worth mentioning that many top European teams are currently competing in ESL One Germany Online, which ends on November 1. This may prevent some of the bigger teams, like Team Secret, OG, and Team Liquid, from competing in both events simultaneously.

However, teams from North/South America and Southeast Asia have more open time in their schedules, making it highly likely for teams like Quincy Crew, BOOM Esports, and even Evil Geniuses to show up.

A Boost in Prize Money

The overall prize pool of Dota Summit 13 Online is $250,000, split between the three regions. Co-founder David “GoDz” Parker has confirmed that Valve’s support is purely financial, resulting in an increase in the prize pool for teams in North/South America and Southeast Asia.

GoDz believes that this change is necessary and hopes to see it become more common in these regions, as there is a lack of prize money in the biggest events. By doubling the prize pool, teams and players in North/South America and Southeast Asia will have a greater incentive and support from their organizations.

With this exciting development, Dota Summit 13 Online promises to be a milestone event for the Dota 2 community.
