Valve announces release of Outlanders update following Chengdu Major

Dota 2 Update Set to Release After MDL Chengdu Major

Valve has announced that the long-awaited Outlanders content update for Dota 2 will go live after the MDL Chengdu Major, which concludes on November 24. Despite the developer’s reputation for poor communication, a Valve developer confirmed this timeframe in a Reddit comment, explaining that they prefer to avoid giving specific dates to allow for flexibility during the development process.

The lack of updates and communication from Valve has been a frequent concern among the Dota 2 community. While the developer has a renowned reputation in the gaming industry, their communication with players has always been lacking. This announcement comes as a relief to fans who have been waiting for new content, especially after the frequent updates received by Dota Underlords, Valve’s cousin game.

Interestingly, this marks the fourth consecutive year that the post-TI patch for Dota 2 arrives after the first Major tournament of the next season. With the Chengdu Major starting later than usual, the 7.22 patch is expected to be one of the longest in recent memory, lasting for more than six months.

In the meantime, fans can look forward to the start of the 2019-20 DPC season, which kicks off with the Minor Dota Summit 11 on November 7, followed by the Chengdu Major on November 16.
