Top teams in The International 10’s group stage: Invictus Gaming and PSG.LGD

Two Chinese Teams Top Group Stage at The International 2021

Chinese teams have made history at The International 2021, with both Invictus Gaming and PSG.LGD securing the number one seed in their respective brackets. This is the first time since 2012 that two Chinese teams have performed so well in the group stage, and interestingly, iG and LGD were also the representatives the last time this happened. If history repeats itself, iG could be the ultimate winner, especially considering their strong performance in the past.

iG Dominates Group A

This year’s iteration of iG has been nothing short of dominant. They finished the group stage with a remarkable 6-2-0 record, even splitting series with renowned teams like OG and Undying. iG secured the top seed in their group, making it difficult for any team in Group A to advance to the upper bracket without going through them.

LGD Fights its Way to the Top

LGD faced tough competition in Group B but managed an impressive 7-1-0 record, only losing to Team Secret. One of their standout moments was a 17-minute win over Elephant, where they called GGs early after a demoralizing loss in game one. LGD’s victory over Elephant showcased their resilience and determination.

China’s Dominance Continues

iG and LGD’s strong performances come as no surprise, considering their victories in the 2021 Dota Pro Circuit Majors. Each team showcased dominance at different points in the season, positioning them as formidable contenders in TI10’s main event.

Vici Gaming secured an upper bracket spot, but their hopes were dashed when they lost the final series of the entire group stage to Team Secret. Meanwhile, Virtus.pro, a young CIS squad, claimed Group A’s second seed and is another team to watch heading into the main event.

What’s Next?

As the main event begins on October 12, along with iG, LGD, and Secret, all eyes will be on Virtus.pro as well. Will Secret finally bring home an Aegis? Can OG three-peat? Or will China’s dominance continue to reign on the main stage? The action kicks off at 2am CT on October 12, with iG taking on Team Spirit in the upper bracket.
