Top teams experience swift defeat at ESL One Birmingham

Dota 2 Pro Circuit Season: ESL One Birmingham Underway

The second-to-last event of the Dota 2 Pro Circuit season is currently underway. ESL One Birmingham, the inaugural Dota 2 event in the U.K., began yesterday with the first round of group stage games.

Fnatic and Evil Geniuses Provide Spectacular Opener

Fnatic and Evil Geniuses kicked off the event with an exhilarating match featuring a Desolator Io and a base race. Jacky “EternaLEnVy” Mao and Djardel Jicko “DJ” Mampusti showcased the Morphling-Io combo, demolishing EG’s tier four towers and breaking backdoor protection.

Early Loss for EG, Fnatic Falls to Virtus Pro

Unfortunately, the day didn’t start well for Evil Geniuses as they lost their group elimination match against Team Spirit. Fnatic, despite their win against EG, were unable to overcome Pro Circuit leaders Virtus Pro, who defeated them in two games without breaking a sweat.

OG Dominates Group B, StarLadder Invitational Champions OpTic Gaming Tops Group C

In Group B, OG claimed first place with victories against Vici Gaming and paiN Gaming. Meanwhile, OpTic Gaming emerged as winners in Group C, defeating both Newbee and Mineski. Both teams are in strong contention for direct invites and have shown impressive results.

The remaining elimination matches of the group stage will be played today, starting with Fnatic versus Team Spirit at 5am CT.
