The International 2022 Tickets Sell Out Instantly, Leaving Fans in Disarray
Within minutes, tickets to Dota 2’s most prestigious event, The International 2022, were completely sold out, much to the disappointment of thousands of fans hoping to attend.
For a brief moment on August 13, there was a glimmer of hope for those willing to pay the steep ticket price. However, it quickly vanished as the online queues opened and tickets disappeared within minutes.
Given the event’s iconic status in the MOBA community, it’s no surprise that tickets sold out almost instantly.
Unfortunately, the ticket-selling process was marred by scalpers who managed to secure a significant number of tickets, leaving many genuine fans empty-handed.
Even the most prepared fans stood little chance against these scalpers, who often employ bots to snatch up tickets. To make matters worse, they immediately resold the tickets at exorbitant prices.
Many prospective attendees had already made travel arrangements to Singapore, including booking flights and accommodation, unaware of the near-impossible task of securing tickets.
Now, these fans are facing limited options to salvage their plans, none of which are ideal.
The first option is to buy tickets from scalpers at inflated prices. However, this is not advisable since photo identification linked to the original purchaser is required at the event, and supporting scalping activities is discouraged.
The second option is to go ahead with the trip without attending the event and instead join watch parties with other disappointed fans. Unfortunately, this alternative will not provide the same experience.
The third and final option is to accept the losses and seek refunds for flights and accommodations. However, they may still lose their deposits, amounting to hundreds or even thousands of dollars.
It’s a difficult situation for Dota 2 fans who find themselves in this unfortunate predicament, and it has left a bitter taste in the mouths of the community.
Nevertheless, there is some good news. The actual event promises to be exciting, with previous winners Team Spirit coming into form after their victory at the Arlington Dota 2 Major.
So, there is still something to look forward to despite the disappointment surrounding ticket sales.
