TI9 prize pool surpasses $32 million and keeps growing

The International 2019 Prize Pool Climbs to $32 Million Ahead of Tournament

With just over a week until The International 2019 in Shanghai, China, the tournament’s prize pool continues to grow. Valve’s release of Immortal Treasure III helped push TI9’s prize pool past $32 million.

The release of Immortal Treasure III came just 10 days before TI9, making it the longest wait for the final set of treasures in the Battle Pass’ history. However, fans have expressed disappointment in the choices Valve made for the collection, giving more attention to heroes who already had item sets while neglecting others. This mixed reception, combined with the delayed release, may hinder TI9’s total prize pool climb.

Valve has not yet released the 182 level rewards, including the highly anticipated Tiny prestige set that unlocks at level 255. Despite the mixed reactions to recent content, TI9 has surpassed the Fortnite World Cup to become the largest esports prize pool in history.

The International 2019 will begin on August 15, with 18 teams competing for the $32 million prize pool.
