TI8 Team Spotlight: Mineski, Esteemed Fighters from Southeast Asia

Mineski: A Strong Comeback to The International

This article focuses on the comeback of Southeast Asian Dota 2 team Mineski to The International (TI). Previously invited to the first TI, Mineski has been absent from the tournament ever since. However, this year, they have returned with a roster of mixed nationalities, led by legendary player Chai “Mushi” Yee Fung. Despite now residing in Malaysia instead of the Philippines, Mineski has had a successful competitive year, making multiple appearances in important events and winning two trophies during the Dota 2 Pro Circuit.

Heading into TI8, Mineski is considered the favorite team from the Southeast Asian region. The roster is made up of experienced players, including Mushi, who has been to five previous Internationals, and offlaner Daryl Koh “iceiceice” Pei Xiang, who has six International appearances to his name. Additionally, the team benefits from the talent of mid laner Kam “Moon” Boon Seng and support player Anucha “Jabz” Jirawong. Michael “ninjaboogie” Ross serves as the team’s leader, providing crucial support and shot-calling.

One unique aspect of Mineski is the presence of coach Tang “71” Wenyi, a renowned figure in Chinese Dota 2 coaching. With the ability to be in the booth during the draft phase, 71 relieves pressure from Mushi and helps the team make clearer decisions. This is particularly valuable for Mineski, given the emotional nature of Southeast Asian players. 71’s coaching has led the team to victory in premier tournaments.

Mineski’s comeback at TI8 is highly anticipated, and with the trust between the coach and the roster, the team is expected to perform exceptionally well. Fans should keep an eye on offlaner iceiceice, known for his impactful playstyle, as he creates space for his teammates and leads the three-man gank squad. The team’s biggest challenge lies in finding a balance between Jabz’s roaming playstyle and ninjaboogie’s preference for protecting Mushi in the laning phase. Despite this, Mineski is considered a real contender for the TI8 title.
