TI 2023: The Unexpected Challenge of Predicting Dota 2’s Toughest Tournament

Dota 2’s The International 12: Unexpected Results and Surprises on the Main Stage

The International 12, Dota 2’s biggest event of the year, has been full of unexpected twists and surprises. Out of the initial 20 teams, only eight have made it to the main stage of TI12. Let’s take a closer look at the surprising teams and outcomes.

Group A: Team Spirit Shines as Favorites

In Group A, the most unexpected of the four groups, Team Spirit has emerged as the top contender. The Eastern European team has shown great form in the DPC 2023, winning the Riyadh Masters and DreamLeague Season 21. With their strong performance, they are now one of the favorites to win TI12.

Group B: The “Group of Death”

Group B was considered the toughest group, with fans expecting the teams to knock each other out. However, three teams from this group have made it to the main stage: Team Liquid, BetBoom Team, and Azure Ray. These teams will compete alongside the Group A favorites in the upper bracket of TI12.

Group C: Underdogs Take the Spotlight

Group C has been full of surprises, with several underdog teams making their way to the main stage. LGD Gaming secured the final spot in the upper bracket, while Gaimin Gladiators, who dominated the DPC throughout the year, find themselves in the lower bracket struggling to perform.

Unpredictable Outcomes for Group D

Disappointingly, none of the teams from Group D advanced to the main stage. Tundra Esports, the reigning TI champions and the last hope of the group, were eliminated by Entity, who in turn were defeated by Virtus.Pro. The upsets have made this year’s TI tournament one of the most unpredictable in recent years.
