This single hero’s impact on the Dota 2 meta spans across all regions in DPC Winter Tour

The dominance of Rubick in the Dota Pro Circuit

The first tour of the 2023 Dota Pro Circuit has concluded, and one hero stood out in almost every match across all regions. Rubick was the most popular pick in four out of the six DPC regions, with Tusk (in China) and Treant Protector (in NA) coming close.

Despite being a popular choice, Rubick also had a high win rate of over 55 percent in two regions, and an average of close to 50 percent in the remaining four regions.

In the drafting stage, where many powerful heroes are banned, Rubick serves as a trump card for most teams. With the rise of teamfight-oriented heroes like Treant Protector, Disruptor, and Crystal Maiden, Rubick’s versatility makes him a valuable addition to any lineup.

Rubick’s presence not only allows teams to turn the tide of the game by stealing impactful spells, but he is also known for his early game roaming abilities. When paired with a hero that can sustain themselves in the lane, Rubick can create ample space on the map.

Additionally, Rubick’s kit provides him with significant magic amplification, making him a potent threat in the late game. By stealing powerful ultimate abilities like Shadow Fiend’s, Rubick has the potential to obliterate the enemy team.

Besides spell stealing, the mere presence of Rubick can influence how teams navigate and strategize around the map at various stages of the game. The fear of having their ultimates stolen may cause opponents to hesitate, giving Rubick an advantage in professional Dota 2 matches.

Rubick is not limited to a supporting role and can also be played in the mid-lane. His versatility as a hero can disrupt the enemy team’s plans and lead to a series of mistakes.
