Dota 2’s Top Teams Prepare for The International 10 Grand Finals
The group stage of Dota 2’s biggest tournament, The International 10, has come to an end. The top teams will now face off live at the Arena Națională in Bucharest to determine the champion and winner of the coveted Aegis of Champions.
Over the course of October 12 to 17, 16 teams will compete for a share of the over $40 million prize pool, the largest in esports history.
At the conclusion of the group stage, Invictus Gaming and PSG.LGD secured the top seeds from their respective groups. This allowed them to choose their opponents for the first round of the main event. Higher-seeded teams in the upper and lower brackets also had the opportunity to select opponents from lower-seeded teams in other groups.
This selection process gives teams the chance to pick a favorable matchup that they feel confident about. For example, LGD chose to face T1 instead of OG, and Team Secret chose to face OG, a team they have historically had a 61.8 percent win rate against according to datdota.
The tournament format sees eight teams starting in the upper bracket with best-of-three matches, while the other eight teams play best-of-one elimination games to set the stage for day two of the main event.
