The prize pool for The International 7 is experiencing remarkable growth rates.

The International 7 Battle Pass Raises $5 Million in Just 3 Days

Since its release, The International 7 Battle Pass has achieved record-breaking growth, raising over $5 million in just three days. This rapid growth rate sets a new record in the history of Dota 2.

Countdown to The International 7 Begins

The impressive weekend performance of the Battle Pass signals the start of the leadup to The International 7 in August. Sixteen top Dota 2 teams will compete for the coveted title of the best team in the world and a cash prize that is expected to be one of the largest in esports history.

Every year, Dota 2 fans participate in a tradition of contributing to the prize pool of The International. This year is no different, as fans have the opportunity to directly contribute to the prize pool by purchasing the upgradable Battle Pass. The Battle Pass offers various rewards, including new in-game voice lines, hero sets, and a re-skinned map. Twenty-five percent of the Battle Pass cost, along with any subsequent in-game purchases, goes straight to The International 7’s prize pool.

Record-Breaking Growth in Prize Pool

Shortly after the release of The International 7 Battle Pass, Dota 2 fans wasted no time in contributing to the prize pool. From Thursday to Sunday, an impressive $5,226,337 was added, combining with Valve’s base contribution of $1.6 million to reach a total prize pool of nearly $7 million dollars.

According to the Dota 2 Prize Tracker, which monitors and provides historical data on The International’s prize pools, this is the fastest growth rate for the prize pool over the course of a weekend since the tournament’s inception.

Although this year’s initial contributions show only a modest increase compared to previous years, such as The International 6’s Battle Pass raising $4,565,823, the growth rate is particularly impressive considering Dota 2’s declining player base. Despite a 20 percent decrease since its peak in February 2016, the game continues to attract fans and increase its prize pool exponentially.

The International’s prize pool has consistently grown year after year. While it remains uncertain whether The International 7 will surpass previous records, the weekend’s achievements indicate that the tournament is on track to be the biggest one yet.
