The prize pool for The International 7 has exceeded $20 million.

The annual Dota 2 event, The International, is on track to break its own prize money record for the fifth consecutive year. With just under three months to go, the tournament has already surpassed $20 million in prize pool, thanks to crowdsourcing and the purchase of in-game items.

The International: The Biggest Dota 2 Event

The International is the biggest Dota 2 tournament, featuring 18 teams from around the world. Since its inception in 2013, the event has grown significantly in scale. Valve, the game’s developer, introduced crowdsourcing to the tournament, allowing fans to contribute to the prize pool.

A Growing Prize Pool

This year’s edition, The International 7, has already exceeded $20 million in prize money. It is just $700,000 away from surpassing last year’s record. With over a month to go until the tournament starts, the prize pool is expected to continue growing exponentially.

Contributing to the Prize Pool

Fans can contribute to the prize pool by purchasing The International Battle Pass. This in-game item grants access to unique cosmetics, a fantasy game mode, and a single-player campaign mode. Additional cosmetics are released as players level up their Battle Pass. Twenty-five percent of each Battle Pass purchase goes towards the prize pool.

As The International 7 draws closer, all eyes are on the prize pool, which is set to break records in the esports industry once again.
