The International 10 breaks record for highest esports prize pool

The International 10 Breaks Esports Prize Pool Record

The 10th anniversary of The International has broken the record for the largest prize pool in esports, surpassing last year’s $34,330,068.

TI10 achieved this milestone almost 20 days faster than the previous year. With highly anticipated Battle Pass rewards still to come, such as the third Immortal Treasure and Windranger Arcana, the prize pool for this major Dota 2 event is expected to continue growing.

TI has consistently broken this record thanks to its innovative crowd-funding approach since TI3. Dota 2 now holds the top six spots on the largest overall prize pools list.

As a result of this achievement, Battle Pass owners will receive 10 free levels. Valve, the developer of Dota 2, has set the next milestone for a reward at $40 million. The Battle Pass is set to expire on Sept. 19.

However, the record-breaking moment is overshadowed by the indefinite postponement of the event itself. Valve has cited the “increase in unpredictability” due to the COVID-19 pandemic as the reason. The developer reassured fans that updates will be provided as soon as possible.
