The Dota 2 Major in Kuala Lumpur to start 2018-2019 DPC season in November

Valve Announces PGL’s Kuala Lumpur Major as First Dota 2 Major of 2018-2019 Season

Valve has revealed that the first major of the 2018-2019 Dota 2 Pro Circuit (DPC) season will be PGL’s Kuala Lumpur Major, which is set to begin on Nov. 9.

The regional open qualifiers for the event will start within the next week, with the first qualifier scheduled for Sept. 10. Following the open qualifiers, the major qualifier will take place from Sept. 16 to Sept. 21, determining the 16 participating teams.

This major announcement comes shortly after The International 8 tournament, where OG emerged as the victors. However, every team, including OG, will have to qualify for the Pro Circuit event since it marks the start of a new season.

Teams that qualify for the event will compete in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for a chance to win a $1 million prize pool. The group stage will last for two days before the playoffs begin on Nov. 11. The main event will take place at the Axiata Arena on Nov. 16, where the champion will be crowned.

Following The International 8, several teams, such as Na’Vi and Fnatic, have made changes to their rosters in hopes of improving their results for the upcoming season. More roster shuffling is expected among the top teams, which may occur very soon due to the quick offseason.

Fans can expect a lot of exciting events and substantial prize money in the next season of the Dota Pro Circuit. The inaugural season awarded over $30 million to teams, and the next season may surpass that amount.

Tickets for the Kuala Lumpur Major are now on sale.
