Team Secret acquires Matu and Heen for the 2019-20 Dota Pro Circuit season

Team Secret Announces Roster Changes

Team Secret, the powerhouse Dota 2 team, has made some major changes to its lineup. After skipping the first Major of the 2019-20 Dota Pro Circuit, the team decided to sign Lasse “MATUMBAMAN” Urpalainen and move Yeik “MidOne” Nai Zheng to the inactive roster. This move was not unexpected, as many fans saw the potential for this change based on Chaos Esports Club’s performance at The International 2019. With the remaining roster disbanding last week, this change seemed to align perfectly with Team Secret’s plans.

While this change does mean losing MidOne’s expansive hero pool, the addition of MATUMBAMAN’s experience and the opportunity to draft around a new player will likely outweigh that loss in the team’s early tournaments. MidOne had been with the team since 2017 but did not perform well in the last season, which may have been a deciding factor in the roster change.

The new Team Secret lineup consists of MATUMBAMAN, Michał “Nisha” Jankowski, Ludwig “zai” Wåhlberg, Yazied “YapzOr” Jaradat, and Puppey. MATUMBAMAN will take over the position one role, while Nisha shifts to MidOne’s old position, adding further complexity to the team’s strategies.

In addition to the player changes, Team Secret also decided to replace coach Lee “SunBhie” Jeong-jae with Lee “Heen” Seung Gon. Despite fans expecting Heen to stay in Southeast Asia after coaching for TNC, he ultimately joined forces with MATUMBAMAN and Puppey in Team Secret. Heen’s coaching ability and deep insight in the Dota scene are highly regarded, and his presence on the team is expected to greatly contribute to their drafting, gameplay, and overall camaraderie.

These roster changes are expected to elevate Team Secret even further, as they were already considered one of the best teams in the world. Additionally, the addition of key players from Kuro “KuroKy” Takhasomi’s successful seasons and his former coach may finally give Team Secret the edge they need to overcome their biggest rival. Team Secret’s new lineup will debut in the upcoming European qualifiers for the DreamLeague Season 13 Major on December 1st.
