Team Liquid playfully teases adored Dota 2 announcer with covert TI11 LCQ draft message

Drafting Fun: Team Liquid’s Cheeky Jab at Caster Cap During The International 2022 Qualifiers

Drafting is a crucial phase in any Dota 2 match. It’s a strategic battle among captains, coaches, and sometimes players to gain an advantage.

The first game of The International 2022: Last Chance Qualifier series between Team Liquid and Virtus.Pro was no different.

Well, sort of.

Despite the high stakes, Liquid saw an opportunity to have some fun and poke at beloved caster Austin “Cap” Walsh, who is good friends with coach William “Blitz” Lee.

During the early stages of the drafting phase, Blitz playfully held up Team Liquid’s strategy papers in front of the camera, revealing a hilariously cheeky message on the back: “CAP = AWFUL CASTER.”

Of course, it was all in good spirit.

Blitz and Cap have co-casted together multiple times, earning a reputation as one of the best hype caster and analyst duos in the community.

However, their partnership came to an end in 2016 when Blitz shifted his focus to coaching different teams, including Team Liquid, Digital Chaos, Thunderbirds, and Planet Odd (as a coach), before returning to Team Liquid in 2019.

Cap has not responded to the playful jab yet, so there’s a chance he hasn’t seen it.

However, the Dota 2 community caught on quickly, and the incident is gaining traction on social media.

It’s a good reminder that even in intense series and high-stakes matches, having a bit of fun can go a long way.
