T1’s Dota 2 team set to make debut at VKGAME Battle of Dawn

T1 Introduces New Dota 2 Roster in VKGAME Battle Of Dawn Event

Most Dota 2 teams have been focused on competing for a spot at the first Major of the Dota Pro Circuit. But T1 is taking a different approach by giving its newest roster a test run through the VKGAME Battle Of Dawn event before making anything official.

The VKGAME Battle Of Dawn event is not a DPC event, which means there wasn’t a hard roster lock. This allowed T1 to fly under the radar until the full list of teams was revealed for the tournament, unveiling the remaining four players joining Lee “Forev” Sang-don.

  • James “XemistrY” Lee
  • Forev
  • snOw
  • Ha “Grace” Tae-eun

Four players on the roster are Korean, and two of them have previously played for MVP Phoenix alongside Forev. This choice aligns with T1 being an old KeSPA organization and the first to have a Dota 2 team since Phoenix.

The biggest signing for T1 is MP, a veteran player with experience playing with several members of the team. MP has attended three different Internationals and was most recently on Fnatic’s roster before being moved to the inactive list.

The only non-Korean player on the team is XemistrY, who will join T1 from Australia on a temporary basis. With the addition of relatively-unknown snOw, it seems like T1 is using this roster as a trial to test things out.

The final player to join T1 is Grace, another ex-Phoenix player who hasn’t found a long-term team since the disbandment of the HOT6ix roster. This signing likely stems from familiarity and a recommendation from Forev.

Depending on how the VKGAME Battle Of Dawn event goes for T1, an official statement confirming these roster changes may follow. If the trial period ends in an early elimination, MP and Forev will likely be retained, but further changes wouldn’t be unexpected before the next round of DPC qualifiers.

The VKGAME Battle Of Dawn event will take place from October 11 to 18, featuring strong teams like EHOME, Keen Gaming, and Newbee competing for a $70,000 prize pool.
