SumaiL departs Nigma following a revelatory encounter in Dota 2’s Berlin Major

Sumail Hassan Joins Team Aster After Berlin Major

Sumail Hassan has recently announced his departure from Nigma Galaxy following the conclusion of the Berlin Major on May 8. The talented mid player had been standing in for Team Aster during the major and has now decided to continue his journey with the Chinese powerhouse.

Nigma bid farewell to SumaiL in a heartfelt Twitter post, while Aster confirmed the move on Weibo.

Despite initial concerns about the language barrier, SumaiL’s time with Aster during the Berlin Major was a success. The team achieved a top-eight finish and earned crucial DPC points. This experience has been eye-opening for many Dota 2 fans, as SumaiL had been absent from Majors while playing for Nigma.

Aster had been actively searching for a mid laner and had shown interest in SumaiL in the past. The Berlin Major allowed them to finally play together, and it seems to have been a perfect match.

Unlike the Southeast Asia region, the Chinese Dota 2 scene rarely imports European players. However, SumaiL’s move to Aster shows that the team is open to diversifying its roster. This is a significant development in Dota 2’s history, as only a few European players have joined full-Chinese teams in the past.

Although the move to Aster seems temporary, SumaiL’s loan agreement indicates that discussions are underway with Nigma regarding his future. With SumaiL on board, Aster’s roster for the Dota Pro Circuit’s summer tour includes:

  • Du “Monet” Peng – Position one
  • Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan – Position two
  • Lin “Xxs” Jing – Position three
  • Ye “BoBoKa” Zhibiao – Position four
  • Yu “皮球” Yajun – Position five
