Spider Pigzs Dota 2 Team Calls It Quits

Spider Pigzs Dota 2 Team to Disband after Disappointing Season

The Spider Pigzs Dota 2 team, led by Nikola “LeBronDota” Popović, has made the decision to disband after eight months of competing together. Despite finishing fifth in the lower division of the Europe regional league for the 2021 Dota Pro Circuit (DPC), the team did not achieve their set goals and has opted to explore different options individually. However, they will complete their current event lineup before officially parting ways.

LeBron announced the team’s decision on Twitter, stating, “After 8 months together we didn’t manage to achieve our goals so we decided it is time to go different paths. We will finish Snow Event and Epulze event and that will be all from Spider Pigzs. Also I am looking for a team at any region. Thanks for the support we had! “

The Spider Pigzs team initially formed under Tempo Esports, with LeBron, Alexandr “krylat” Krylatov, and Dino “dnz” Šavuk joining Tony “No!ob” Assaf and Damir “Mitch” Škaričić in June 2020. They later left the organization to pursue their own goals and formed Spider Pigzs, a name previously used by LeBron and Mitch between 2016 and 2018.

Stoyan “lil pleb” Kostov, a player from Cyberium, had replaced Dimitris “ThuG” Plivouris ahead of the DPC season. With the team disbanding, lil pleb will return to Cyberium’s inactive roster, while the remaining players will become free agents and seek new opportunities for the upcoming DPC season two open qualifiers.

DreamHack will now have three open spots in the season two EU lower division, with Meta4Pro withdrawing and burjui being disqualified for violating tournament rules. The promotion to the upper division will be decided through a three-way tiebreaker between Brame, Creepwave, and Hellbear Smashers.
