Dota 2 Balance Patches and IceFrog’s Involvement
Over the past year and a half, the balance patches in Dota 2 have become less exciting, leading fans to question the involvement of the game’s lead developer, IceFrog.
Skiter’s Revelation
Oliver “skiter” Lepko, a champion from The International representing Tundra Esports, may have revealed the truth. In an interview, skiter mentioned that IceFrog had not been actively working on Dota for the past two years.
Expecting Bigger Changes
Skiter also stated that IceFrog’s return in the last patch could mean bigger changes in the future. This news quickly spread throughout the Dota 2 community, prompting other personalities like popular streamer Gorgc to comment on the situation.
IceFrog’s Absence and New Projects
Gorgc confirmed skiter’s claims and added that IceFrog’s absence might be due to him working on another game. There have been numeric adjustments in recent Dota 2 patches, leading some to believe that IceFrog’s attention has been divided.
Despite doubts about IceFrog’s involvement, he has been a constant presence in Dota since 2005. It would make sense for him to take a short break after more than 15 years of active development.
Rumors have also surfaced about a new project called NEON PRIME, which could either be a feature for CS:GO or a part of the Dota universe. If true, involving IceFrog in the development of Dota spin-offs would be a good idea for success.
Overall, the community has been uncertain about IceFrog’s role in Dota 2, but skiter’s revelation has brought the issue into the spotlight.
