Zachary “Sneaky” Scuderi Takes on Dota 2
The famous cosplayer and ex-League of Legends pro, Zachary “Sneaky” Scuderi, has recently discovered his love for Dota 2. With his journey starting from scratch, Sneaky has learned the intricacies of the game through a series of amusing and unfortunate moments in his ranked matches.
From Rookie to Ancient One
All of Sneaky’s hard work has paid off, as he has now reached the rank of Ancient One in Dota 2, with an MMR ranging from 3,800 to 4,000. This impressive achievement was accomplished in less than 300 games played.
Impressive Feat for a Carry Player
This accomplishment is even more noteworthy when considering that Sneaky exclusively played carry heroes throughout his journey. The carry role requires extensive experience, which Sneaky was initially expected to lack.
When he first started streaming Dota 2, Sneaky played with a small group of friends who were ranked at Archon, with MMRs ranging from 2,000 to 2,900. Additionally, Sneaky had limited experience with Dota, having only played Dota 1 against bots in his youth before transitioning to Heroes of Newerth and League of Legends.
Rapid Progression in MMR
Despite his lack of prior experience in Dota 2, Sneaky calibrated at Crusader Five, around 2,000 MMR, after playing approximately 120 unranked games. This meant that he doubled his MMR in a remarkably short period. Continuing to play in party queues, he quickly reached Legend One, at 3,000 MMR, and found himself in the smurf pool, where highly skilled players are placed to accelerate their progression to their appropriate skill bracket.
With a few strategic wins in the smurf pool, Sneaky advanced to the Ancient bracket, which is equivalent to high Platinum and low Diamond in League terms. This bracket represents only the top 10 percent of the player base, highlighting Sneaky’s remarkable progress in Dota 2.
