Shanghai’s Citywide COVID-19 Lockdown Halts Chinese Dota Pro Circuit

China Implements Strict Lockdown, Pauses Dota Pro Circuit Spring Tour

China has entered its strictest lockdown in over two years, with a citywide lockdown now in place in Shanghai. As a result, Perfect World has decided to pause the China 2022 Dota Pro Circuit Spring Tour.

The regional league will be temporarily suspended after the matches scheduled for March 29. While the tournament organizer aims to resume full operations on April 8, please note that this date is subject to change.

According to the AP, there is a “growing outbreak” of COVID-19 in Shanghai that could not be contained with limited lockdowns of housing compounds and workplaces. To address this, a strict two-phase lockdown has been implemented, with smaller lockdowns already in effect over the past few weeks.

During this lockdown, mass testing will take place, residents will be required to stay at home, and non-essential businesses, including public transport, will be closed. For more information on the specifics of this lockdown and China’s approach to COVID-19, you can click here.

Perfect World is directly affected by this situation, as their main DPC production studio and many participating teams are based in Shanghai.

Heading into this break, PSG.LGD maintains their lead in the regional standings for the second year in a row. However, Royal Never Give Up and Xtreme Gaming are close behind, trailing by just one series in terms of record.
