A thrilling match between Royal Never Give Up and Geek Fam at the WePlay! Bukovel Minor resulted in a breathtaking turnaround. Despite a shocking defeat, RNG managed to secure their spot in the grand finals with dominant performances in the first and third games.

RNG’s victory in this 2-1 series advances them to the grand finals of the competition. They are now one step closer to winning a DreamLeague Leipzig Major ticket.

RNG and Geek Fam previously faced each other in Group A, where RNG easily defeated the Southeast Asian team 2-0.

Geek Fam’s risky hero choices in the first game did not pay off. The SEA team opted for Leshrac and Witch Doctor, aiming for an early game advantage. However, RNG’s teamfight sustainability with Omniknight and Kunkka proved too strong. Gradually, RNG turned the game in their favor as Geek Fam struggled to eliminate important heroes.

The second game was one of the tournament’s highlights. RNG picked Riki as their carry, a surprising choice played by Du “Monet” Peng. In the early game, Monet’s presence was virtually undetectable, while Geek Fam’s Marc Polo “Raven” Luis Fausto had a strong start.

Monet’s glass cannon build allowed him to narrowly escape fights. Despite Geek Fam’s excellent laning stage, RNG provided enough support for Monet to become a formidable force.

Although Raven executed brilliant stalling maneuvers, RNG managed to breach the Geek Fam base with their poor tower damage. Suddenly, the Chinese team was in the lead and on the path to securing their spot in the grand finals.

However, RNG made some critical mistakes. Diving deep into Geek Fam’s territory, their two strongest cores, Riki and Ember Spirit, lost their lives and instantly bought back. This gave Geek Fam a clear win condition, leading to a third game.

Geek Fam took full advantage of RNG’s errors and swiftly eliminated Riki and Ember once again. RNG, shocked by their own mistakes, were forced into a game three.

In the third game, RNG quickly regained their momentum and left their troubles behind. Gao “Setsu” Zhenxiong had a strong performance on his favored Shadow Fiend, leading RNG to a series victory.

Geek Fam showcased their resilience throughout the series. In game two, most teams would have given up, but Geek Fam remained determined and secured a win. Their ability to capitalize on RNG’s overconfidence while maintaining their composure is a testament to their standing as a top-tier team. Even if they don’t win the tournament, they have shown significant improvement from their previous Dota Pro Circuit showing and can return home with their heads held high.

While RNG’s performance in the second game raised concerns, their strong recovery in the third game displayed their mental fortitude. So far, RNG has been the standout team in the event, earning themselves a spot in the grand finals. They have already secured a $60,000 prize and 120 Dota Pro Circuit points, but their ultimate goal is to earn a Major berth.
