The Group A standings for The International 2019 have been finalized, with PSG.LGD securing the top seed and preparing to enter the main event.

Despite a challenging start, PSG.LGD proved their determination by defeating Team Secret and showing their readiness for redemption.

Final Group A Standings

1PSG.LGD13-3
2Team Secret11-5
3Newbee9-7
4TNC Predator9-7
5Alliance8-8
6Mineski8-8
7Team Liquid6-10
8Keen Gaming5-11
9Chaos Esports Club3-13

With Lu “Somnus丶M” Yao becoming the second player to reach 1,000 kills in TI history, PSG.LGD entered the final day of competition with confidence. While Team Secret posed a threat, PSG.LGD held the tiebreaker advantage over the European team.

Although Alliance managed to secure an impressive victory against PSG.LGD in just 27 minutes, it did not impact their placement. PSG.LGD will now face off against Virtus Pro in the main event, aiming to claim the Aegis of Champions.

On the other hand, Team Secret’s performance has been lackluster, as evidenced by their fifth loss against Chaos Esports Club. While this can be partly attributed to not needing to win to secure an upper bracket spot, Team Secret has shown weaknesses over the past two days.

Having lost to PSG.LGD and split their series with Chaos, Mineski, and TNC Predator, Team Secret’s dominance at the start of TI9 has been tarnished. They will now face Evil Geniuses in the playoffs, a matchup that offers them a more comfortable position.

Newbee and TNC Predator secured the third and fourth spots in Group A, allowing them to enter the upper bracket and bypass the elimination rounds.

Newbee has been an unexpected standout, ending the group stage with a draw against Mineski. While they have faced challenges, their victories against Team Liquid and LGD prove their ability to compete at a high level.

TNC Predator, after their remarkable performance against Liquid, has made significant progress since their elimination before the main event last year. They now face Vici Gaming, aiming for another impressive victory.

With Alliance and Mineski narrowly missing the upper bracket, their victories against Newbee and LGD respectively demonstrate their potential. Alliance will face Royal Never Give Up in a best-of-one elimination game, giving them a favorable opportunity. Meanwhile, Mineski faces a tougher challenge against Natus Vincere.

Liquid’s struggles continue, as their recent performance has been disappointing. Their loss against TNC Predator, which cost them an upper bracket spot, raises concerns about their future matchups. They now face Fnatic in the first round of the playoffs, where they will not be considered favorites given their recent form.

Keen Gaming managed to survive elimination, but they face a tough task against Infamous. They will need to recapture the form they showed a few months ago if they have a chance to progress further.

The main event of The International 2019 will begin on Aug. 19, with LGD and Virtus Pro starting the competition at 10pm CT.
