Chinese Dota 2 powerhouse, PSG.LGD Gaming, has just announced a one-year sponsorship deal with popular local streaming platform DouyuTV.

The news broke earlier today when the LGD organization shared it on their official Twitter account. As part of the deal, the DouyuTV logo will be prominently displayed on each player’s jersey, starting with their upcoming appearance at The International 8. DouyuTV has a long history of sponsoring various professional Dota 2 teams, including fan favorites like Team Secret and the now-defunct Team DK.

DouyuTV is one of the most widely used streaming sites in China, frequented by Chinese esports pros and personalities. The platform has plans to raise up to $700 million in capital next year, through a US IPO and investments from Chinese conglomerate Tencent Holdings.

In an earlier partnership this year, LGD joined forces with French football club Paris St. Germain, known for housing famous footballers including Neymar Jr. and 2018 World Cup winner Kylian Mbappe. This partnership resulted in a rebranding of the team, with LGD combining their name with PSG and donning their team colors on their uniforms.

LGD has proven their dominance in the Dota 2 Pro Circuit season, finishing in third place overall and winning two Pro Circuit Majors. With their strong performance, they are considered one of the top contenders for victory at TI8. DouyuTV’s sponsorship is clearly aimed at maximizing exposure during this highly lucrative esports tournament.

The International 8 will commence on August 15th in Vancouver, Canada. The tournament’s prize pool, fueled by the crowdfunding campaign through TI8 Battle Pass, has already exceeded $23 million with approximately two weeks remaining in the campaign period.
