PGL Reverses Disqualification of American Dota 2 Team Amidst Match-Fixing Allegations

Tournament organizer PGL has reversed its decision to disqualify an American Dota 2 team from the Dota Pro Circuit NA Division II series for alleged match-fixing. After receiving new information, PGL decided to overturn the previous verdict and reinstate the team known as ‘American Goons’ to its Division II slot. The season is set to start on June 7.

Public Outrage and Reddit Post Sparks Reevaluation

The decision comes after the Dota community expressed outrage and following a post by American Goons’ team manager Adarsh “logical” Kumar on Reddit. Kumar provided details about the team’s experience and perspective, highlighting that PGL’s investigation was completed overnight and based solely on chatlogs where players jokingly mentioned losing to ‘gatekeep’ their opponents, GateKept.

Manager’s Response and Community Support

Logical emphasized the team’s commitment to fair play and denied intentionally gatekeeping the opponent. He also mentioned that GateKept was the team that submitted the chatlogs to PGL. According to him, PGL only sent a total of five messages and did not reach out to the team during the investigation. American Goons’ support pingu expressed relief and gratitude for the support received from the Dota community following the reversed decision.

American Goons’ Focus on DPC Division II and The International

American Goons’ official Twitter account reaffirmed the team’s dedication to the DPC Division II competition and thanked those who stood by them during the investigation. The team stated their commitment to giving their best in preparation for the NA qualifier for this year’s International.

While some community members praised the investigation’s findings and PGL’s decision, others were perplexed by the lack of hard evidence.
