Old G Escapes Dota Pro Circuit Relegation and Bypasses Open Qualifier Struggle Despite Ban

Old G Faces Unexpected Elimination from Dota 2 Qualifiers

On May 8, Old G experienced a setback when they were unexpectedly eliminated from the Closed Qualifiers for the Dota 2 Pro Circuit’s summer tour. However, they quickly rebounded by purchasing PuckChamp’s slot in the Western European DPC’s second division, allowing them to bypass the time-consuming Open Qualifiers process.

While Old G members have not made an official statement regarding this move, they have all registered for the new season under PuckChamp’s slot on Dota 2’s roster registration page.

This acquisition also brings a roster change, as Roman “Resolut1on” Fomynok did not register with Old G. Instead, Old G added Adam “Aramis” Moroz to its roster. Aramis previously stood in for Martin “Saksa” Sazdov on Tundra Esports during DreamLeague Season 19.

Although Old G has regained their position in the second division, there is no guarantee that they will remain there. Just like NAVI in the 2023 DPC season, Old G will need to fight harder to avoid relegation after purchasing a higher division slot.

With The International 2023 qualifiers approaching, Old G likely did not want to risk their chances of surviving another Open Qualifiers run. Failing to secure a division two slot during the winter season did not immediately impact their season, but it would have spelled the end of 2023 for Old G.
