NiP confirms ppd’s return as captain for a new Dota 2 roster

Ninjas in Pyjamas Revamps Dota 2 Roster

Ninjas in Pyjamas (NiP) has made significant changes to its Dota 2 roster, with only the team captain, Peter “ppd” Dager, returning from last season.

Rumors were circulating that ppd was planning to join a new organization, but NiP decided to allow him to build a completely new roster under their banner. The new lineup includes some notable names, such as his former teammate Saahil “UNiVeRsE” Arora.

  1. Oliver “Skiter” Lepko
  2. Nico “Gunnar” Lopez
  3. Saahil “UNiVeRsE” Arora
  4. Malthe “Biver” Winther
  5. Peter “ppd” Dager

The addition of UNiVeRsE is a logical choice, as he previously played with ppd on the Evil Geniuses team that won The International 2015. This means he has experience at the highest level of Dota and is familiar with NiP’s playstyle. UNiVeRsE last played with Forward Gaming at the beginning of 2019 before the team underwent restructuring.

Gunnar’s signing is also intriguing, as it was expected that the young midlaner would continue playing in Southeast Asia. This move dispels the notion that Team Jinesbrus would remain intact and provides ppd with a popular player who is willing to learn from seasoned veterans.

The inclusion of two former Infamous players from South America in the European region is an unusual choice. Biver, who originally hails from Europe, brings experience playing with Natus Vincere and Team Spirit, despite not having achieved much in recent years. Skiter, on the other hand, has limited experience with larger organizations and no real exposure to the Dota Pro Circuit. NiP hopes that Skiter will develop into a strong carry player.

Although the new roster may seem unconventional, ppd has built a team centered around himself and a trusted teammate, while also picking up three talented young players. With the combination of ppd and UNiVeRsE’s past dominance, NiP aims to achieve greatness.

The team is currently preparing for their first boot camp in anticipation of the upcoming DPC qualifiers for the 2019-2020 season, beginning on October 5.
