Ninjas in Pyjamas Parts Ways with Universe from Dota 2 Roster during ESL One Los Angeles Online

Ninjas in Pyjamas Makes Roster Changes Due to COVID-19

Ninjas in Pyjamas (NiP) has announced roster changes despite their participation in ESL One Los Angeles Online. The decision to release Universe from the team was influenced by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, which is expected to alter the structure of the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) and increase the number of regional competitions.

Restructuring for Continued Practice and Competition

A tweet from NiP confirmed the roster change, stating that “Due to the situation with COVID-19 and the consequent move to regional competition, we are forced to restructure our lineup in Dota 2 to ensure continued practice and competition” (source: Twitter). NiP recognizes the necessity to adapt their lineup in order to navigate the changing landscape of the DPC.

Universe’s Contribution to NiP

Universe, who has played alongside NiP’s captain ppd since their time at Evil Geniuses, brought valuable experience to the team. Despite not being the star player, he consistently provided stability and support. However, due to geographical constraints, Universe was unable to participate in ESL One LA Online as he resides in the United States, while most of the team is based in Europe.

Potential Changes to the Roster

In addition to Universe, Rodrigo “Lelis” Santos was also replaced by a stand-in for the tournament. Moving forward, if the regional competition format continues, Lelis may also be removed from the roster. Milan “MiLAN” Kozomara, who currently serves as a stand-in position four player, could be considered for a more permanent role. Another potential option is Evgeniy “Blizzy” Ree, who is currently inactive on Natus Vincere’s roster and standing in for RAMZES666. Blizzy could be considered as a replacement for Lelis.

With these roster changes, NiP aims to adapt to the evolving circumstances brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic and continue their pursuit of success in the Dota 2 esports scene.
