Ninjas in Pyjamas Eliminated as Second Team at The International 2019

A Disappointing Exit for Ninjas in Pyjamas at The International 2019

Ninjas in Pyjamas (NiP) failed to turn things around on day four of The International 2019 and are now eliminated from the tournament, finishing in a tie for 17th place.

Despite a difficult start, there was still a glimmer of hope for NiP heading into the final day of the group stage. They had a small chance to climb out of last place and secure a spot in the main event.

Unfortunately, Peter “ppd” Dager and his team were only able to win three games throughout the tournament, and none of those were clean series wins. Their inability to secure 2-0 victories early on put them in a tight spot as the event progressed.

Their fate was essentially sealed with a 0-2 loss to Royal Never Give Up on day three. Losing to another struggling team diminished their control over their future and forced them to rely on other teams’ failures.

On day four, NiP needed a win against Infamous to keep their tournament hopes alive. They also needed RNG to lose most, if not all, of their games. However, their chances quickly evaporated as RNG dominated Infamous in a 15-minute match.

With their hopes dashed, NiP’s series against Evil Geniuses held no real significance. Following another 0-2 loss, the European ninjas bid farewell to TI9 as the second team to be eliminated.

Finishing in a tie for 17th place alongside Chaos Esports Club, NiP walks away from the tournament with a prize of $83,000. Now, they will need to evaluate their performance and address the weaknesses that were exposed during the event.
