Next Major Dota Tournament Set to Take Place in Ukraine

2017 Spring Dota Major Headed to Ukraine

The final Dota 2 Major of 2016 is almost over, and the next major event has already been announced. The Spring stop on the Dota Major circuit for 2017 will be held in Kiev, Ukraine in April 2017.

Next year, 16 teams will travel to Kiev to compete for a $3 million prizepool, with the eventual winner taking home $1 million. Open qualifiers for the event will begin in March.

This will be the first Dota Major held in the CIS region, and the first one in Europe since the Frankfurt Major in November 2015. The event will be produced by PGL, the European organization responsible for the Manila Major earlier this year.

The Boston Major is the final major event of 2016, following the Shanghai Major, Manila Major, and The International. The winner of the Boston Major will likely be invited to compete in Kiev. Potential candidates include OG, the winners of the Frankfurt Major and Manila Major, as well as the Greek underdogs Ad Finem.
