Gamers Without Borders Hosts Dota 2 Tournament for Charity

Gamers Without Borders is launching their next charity event, transitioning from Rainbow Six Siege to Dota 2. The organization has gathered eight of the top Dota 2 teams in the world to compete for a good cause.

From May 15 to 17, Gamers Without Borders continues their $10 million charity esports tournament initiative with Dota 2 as the featured title. All competitors will participate to raise awareness and funds for coronavirus relief charities.

Dota 2 Tournament Details

The upcoming Dota 2 tournament will feature eight world-class teams and a prize pool of $1.5 million for charity. This three-day event promises top-tier Dota 2 action and will take place from May 15 to 17. Check out the tournament announcement video here.

Competing Teams and Charitable Cause

During the three-day event, the eight teams will compete for the opportunity to choose which partnered charity organizations Gamers Without Borders will donate $1.5 million to. Current potential charities include the United Nations Children’s Fund, Direct Relief, and Gavi, The Vaccine Alliance.

To maximize viewership for the charity streams, the Dota 2 tournament will focus on the European and CIS regions, featuring top teams such as Team Secret and OG.

Two CIS teams, Virtus Pro and Natus Vincere, will represent their region at the tournament. The remaining EU contenders include Nigma, Alliance, Team Liquid, and Ninjas in Pyjamas.

Event Schedule and Announcement

The Dota 2 tournament will kick off at 5am CT on May 15. Stay tuned for a full schedule of matches closer to the start date.

Once the Dota 2 tournament concludes, Gamers Without Borders will announce the recipient organizations for the donations, as well as reveal the fourth title for their ongoing charity esports tournament initiative. The previous Rainbow Six champions, The Ultimates, donated their winnings to the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center.
