MoonMeander’s Dota 2 pro career with TSM was never part of the plan

A New Era Begins at TSM with MoonMeander as Coach

TSM, one of the last remaining organizations in the North American Dota 2 region, is entering a new era. Former captain David “MoonMeander” Tan has stepped into the coaching role for the 2023 DPC season, while TSM has welcomed new members to its ranks.

While TSM fans were expecting changes after Dubu’s departure, MoonMeander’s step down from the active roster was rather unforeseen. In a recent Reddit AMA (ask me anything), Moon revealed that he was never meant to play with the Undying roster that transitioned into TSM.

According to Moon, he initially wanted to coach the squad but lacked the financial resources to import European players like Taiga Tommy “Taiga” Le or Martin “Saksa” Sazdov to NA. To fill the void, Moon joined the active roster at the time and remained a part of it until the 2023 DPC season.

Now, with TSM’s backing, Moon has been able to assemble his dream Dota 2 roster with the pubstars he’s had his eye on.

“I can finally focus on drafting, and I believe that having one person fully dedicated to drafting is the way to win TI,” Moon said.

The latest iteration of TSM may appear unproven at first glance, but their goal is clear—to win the next TI. However, before they can reach the highest stage of Dota 2 competition, TSM will need to test their skills against teams like Shopify Rebellion and many other exciting contenders.
