MATUMBAMAN Departs TI 2023 Panel Early Following Team Liquid’s Elimination: Expresses Frustration

Dota 2 Player Matu Joins Talent Panel at TI12

Dota 2 fans were in for a treat during the elimination series between Gaimin Gladiators and Team Liquid at TI12. Lasse “MATUMBAMAN” Urpalainen, a former Liquid player, provided unbiased commentary while joining the talent panel between matches. However, his appearance ended early after Gaimin’s 2-1 win.

During the first two days of the TI12 main event, Matu offered valuable insights into drafts and provided entertaining commentary. He even tried to cover his Liquid bias, except when he stole Blitz’s PC to play World of Warcraft.

Matu’s Memorable Moments on the Broadcast

Matu had several highlight moments on the broadcast. He praised Nisha as the best player in the world, shared his thoughts on the strengths and weaknesses of different heroes, and had a dilemma when Gaimin drafted his favorite hero, Lone Druid, for Ace in game two.

Despite struggling with allegiance, Matu returned to his unbiased stance for game three. Unfortunately, Liquid’s TI12 run came to an end with a tie for fifth place against Gaimin. Matu represented the entire Liquid fanbase as he left the stage.

Matu’s Early Exit from the Panel

Although not shown on camera, multiple TI attendees on Reddit reported that Matu took off his mic and left the panel area early. This left the other talent to recover and continue with the broadcast.

One user mentioned that Matu was met off-stage by Resolut1on, and the two shared a laugh, high five, and hug before Resolut1on joined the panel.

Matu’s Future Involvement

It remains uncertain if Matu will return for any panels during the final day of TI12. Currently, he is likely with his former teammates, attempting to recover from their disappointing end to the 2023 Dota 2 campaign.
