Loda criticizes Alliance’s Dota 2 lineup: ‘We appear laughable’

Alliance Struggles in Dota 2 Scene, Loda Expresses Frustration

Alliance, despite winning The International, has been facing challenges in the Dota 2 scene for the past year. The team’s continuous cycle of promotion and relegation has taken a toll, leading to Jonathan “Loda” Berg expressing his frustrations on Twitter.

A Controversial Tweet and Community Backlash

Loda’s tweet on June 8, which expressed his frustration, was later deleted due to the community backlash it received.

“I’m sorry and genuinely embarrassed for our performance in Dota 2,” Loda expressed, apologizing for the team’s poor showing. He mentioned that making excuses was no longer acceptable and that Alliance appeared like a meme team.

Finally, Loda’s tweet ended with a strong call to action, stating that they needed to either get their act together or leave.

The Impact of the Tweet on Alliance’s Journey

The timing of the tweet, right after Alliance’s loss in their first match of the season in the second division of the Western European Dota Pro Circuit, made fans reflect on the team’s recent journey.

While some fans sympathized with the players, others criticized the organization for being stagnant and failing to adapt to the changing landscape.

Alliance’s Struggle and Rebuild

In September 2022, Alliance made a drastic move by completely revamping their Dota 2 roster. This decision came after the team fell short of their expectations. Additionally, prior to parting ways with their previous roster, Alliance released a documentary called “Ascent,” in which Loda discussed the financial burdens of maintaining a Dota 2 team.
