OG Ejected from The International 7 by China’s LGD
Last night, one of the most successful Dota 2 teams in recent years, OG, was eliminated from The International 7 by China’s LGD. This result means that more than half of the remaining teams in the tournament are now Chinese.
Game 1: LGD Takes Control
In the first game of the series, LGD dominated OG from the start. They took down OG’s midlaner, Anathan “ana” Pham’s Ember Spirit three times before the five-minute mark. LGD continued to secure pick offs across the map, but OG fought back. With map control in their hands, OG’s support player Jesse “JerAx” Vainikka played exceptionally well on his Rubick, setting up team fights and catching players with stolen Fissures. However, LGD’s Leshrac, played by Lu “Maybe” Yao, had farmed enough to dismantle OG in large engagements. LGD successfully broke OG’s base and took down their mid set of barracks, leading to a win in game one.
Game 2: OG’s Early Advantage Fades
In contrast to the first game, OG started strong in game two. They dismantled and brought down five LGD players early on. However, LGD slowly evened out the kills and took control of the map. A crucial engagement around the Roshan pit resulted in LGD’s Kunkka, played by Victoria, using a perfect ultimate that wiped out the entire OG team. With a massive lead, LGD pushed further ahead, making OG unable to catch up. Maybe’s Storm Spirit and Ame’s Sven proved to be too powerful for OG to handle, ultimately leading to their defeat.
Despite their best efforts, OG was unable to secure a top four finish in The International for the second year in a row. They will now exit the tournament.
