Lelis Departs Quincy Crew, Hints at Upcoming Major Changes

Quincy Crew’s Roster Shaken as Lelis Departs

Quincy Crew, a leading team in the competitive Dota 2 scene in North America, experienced its first major shakeup as Rodrigo “Lelis” Santos decided to explore other options.

Team manager Jack Chen had previously mentioned that QC would undergo significant changes before the next season. However, Lelis’ departure and his announcement indicating a deeper look into the team’s future on the official QC Twitter account suggests that the changes may be more substantial than anticipated.

Lelis, reflecting on his experience competing in TI (The International), expressed satisfaction with achieving his goals but acknowledged the need for further steps. He mentioned parting ways with QC and considering his options.

QC’s Journey with Lelis

Lelis, a Brazilian-American player, joined QC in June last year after filling in for the team at ESL One Birmingham 2020 and helping them win the NA/SA regional bracket. QC maintained its position as the second-best team in NA, consistently challenging Evil Geniuses and participating in international competitions.

However, their performance in high-profile events like the ONE Esports Singapore Major and WePlay AniMajor fell short, with their highest placement being fifth. At The International 10, they barely made it to the main stage and were eliminated by OG in the lower bracket, finishing tied for ninth—a disappointing result compared to their own expectations.

Lelis’ Perspective on the Future

Due to the team’s underwhelming performance, Lelis believes that some level of disbandment was inevitable. Despite their struggles, he expressed pride in their resilience and ability to secure wins.

Lelis plans to resume streaming and is currently deciding where he will play in the upcoming Dota Pro Circuit season. It remains to be seen whether QC will make a comeback in any form.
