Leaked Dota 2 Information Suggests TI12 Could Include Visual Novel and New Arcanas

New Content In Store for The International 2023

Valve is gearing up to introduce new content for The International 2023, and while there won’t be a battle pass this time around, there are some exciting updates to look forward to. A recent Reddit post has shed light on what fans can expect from this upcoming TI event.

The post reveals a new file format called “NOVELDEF” that has been added to the game’s backend. This format is similar to the “eventdef” subclass used for storing data related to battle passes and ongoing events like the 10th Anniversary. The mention of a visual novel in the title suggests that this new content could be part of a continuing series rather than a one-time event.

In addition, the leaked information also includes references to “crownfall,” which hints at Arcanas for Skywrath Mage and Vengeful Spirit. Other content mentioned in the leak includes quests labeled the Road to TI, Fantasy Gems, a Hoodwink Immortal set, and the potential inclusion of Dragon Knight, Lone Druid, Lycan, Night Stalker, Ogre Magi, Phoenix, and more in a Collector’s Cache.

With TI12 set to begin on Oct. 12, there is still a lot of information yet to be revealed about the event. Not only do we not know the details of the content update, but we also have no information on how the prize pool will work this time around. Valve has confirmed a $1.6 million base prize pool, but the crowdfunding method or additional contributions remain unclear.

It is likely that Valve will share more information about TI12 after DreamLeague Season 21 concludes on Sept. 24, including details about this year’s Compendium. However, it’s worth noting that Valve has stated that new cosmetic items won’t be a significant focus in the TI-themed update, so some of the leaked content might be intended for something else.
